Outdoor Living in North Naples, FL
Between Pine Ridge Road and the Lee County line, along the Gulf at Vanderbilt Beach and inland across U.S. 41, Backyard Paradiso designs and installs lanai screens and pergolas, pool decks and paver patios, outdoor kitchens, artificial turf, and lighting across the neighborhoods of North Naples: Naples Park, Pelican Bay, Pine Ridge, Pelican Marsh, and their neighbors.
North Naples belongs to the Naples & Southwest Florida market on the Markets We Serve roster. It has no city hall. North Naples is a planning community in unincorporated Collier County, so the county handles permits here, not the City of Naples to the south. The area runs north of Pine Ridge Road toward the Lee County line, and its western edge is the estuary country around Wiggins Pass, the Cocohatchee River, and Clam Bay.
Why Backyard Paradiso in North Naples
The Backyard Paradiso team is a full-service North Naples contractor. Near the Gulf, an outdoor room has to stand up to hurricane wind and salt, drain after a tropical downpour, and still give real shade in August, so the screens, roof, floor, and drainage get designed together. County permits and community approvals are part of the same job. Site assessments scheduled by appointment.
Services in North Naples
The lanai is usually where a North Naples project begins. Outdoor structures handle it: motorized screens, retractable awnings, aluminum pergolas, glass railings, decks, and fencing. Underfoot, turf, hardscape, and landscape brings pool decks, paver courtyards, garden paths, and synthetic lawn. For cooking and gathering, outdoor entertaining adds kitchens, fire features, and umbrellas. Lighting for the evenings, year-round or for the holidays, is seasonal and specialty work, with pools and recreation alongside.
What North Naples' conditions mean for a project
North Naples lives with Gulf weather: a wet season of daily thunderstorms from late spring into fall, heavy humidity, salt air near the water, and hurricane exposure. Collier County sits in Florida’s wind-borne debris region. Under the sandy topsoil, limestone caprock often lies only a few feet down, and the water table rides close to the surface for much of the year. Here’s how that shapes the work:
- Screen systems, pergolas, and awnings are engineered and anchored for the county’s hurricane wind requirements.
- Aluminum framing and corrosion-resistant hardware stand up to salt air near the Gulf and the estuaries.
- Footings are planned around shallow rock and high groundwater.
- Pool decks and patios are sloped to shed a downpour quickly.
The Naples & Southwest Florida market page has the code specifics, flood elevation rules, and wind details.
County offices and districts a North Naples project can touch:
- Permits: Collier County’s Building Plan Review & Inspection Division. North Naples has no city government of its own.
- Water: the Collier County Water-Sewer District supplies public water, and the county’s Water Conservation Ordinance for Landscape Irrigation governs outdoor watering.
- Historic resources: the Collier County Historical/Archaeological Preservation Board, for designated sites.
- Flood mapping: FEMA’s flood maps apply, and the shoreline falls inside Collier’s mapped coastal high hazard zone.
- Local districts: the Pelican Bay Services Division manages Pelican Bay’s water, public landscape, and the Clam Bay Natural Resource Protection Area. The Pelican Marsh and Mediterra community development districts run their own water-management and preserve systems.
- Community review: planned communities such as Pelican Bay and Pelican Marsh have their own associations, which can review exterior changes.
Which of these a property falls under is confirmed during the first visit.
Three Census places, three kinds of housing
North Naples has no Census figures of its own, but the places inside it show how varied it is (2024 ACS five-year estimates):
- Naples Park: median year built 1982, with the 1970s and 1980s the largest decades, and 85 percent detached houses on its grid of numbered streets.
- Pelican Bay: median 1993, built mostly in the 1990s, with 77 percent of homes in multi-unit buildings.
- Pine Ridge: median 1986, largely from the 1980s, with about half its homes detached.
For comparison, the City of Naples has a 1983 median and is 31 percent detached, Golden Gate’s median is 1987, and Bonita Springs to the north reaches 1998.
Most single-family backyard work happens in places like Naples Park, Pine Ridge, and the detached neighborhoods of the planned communities. A 1970s Naples Park house on a compact lot calls for a different plan than a newer home backing onto a golf course or preserve, and the plan starts from the lot that’s there.
Communities, districts, and the Naples name
Named places in North Naples include Naples Park, Pelican Bay, Pine Ridge, Pelican Marsh with its Tiburón community, Vanderbilt Beach, and Palm River Estates. Mediterra straddles the Collier–Lee county line.
Names that often get misplaced:
- The City of Naples, with its historic district and Baker Park on the Gordon River, is a separate municipality to the south.
- Vineyards, Island Walk, and North Collier Regional Park sit in the neighboring Urban Estates planning area, just east.
- Barefoot Beach Preserve is a Collier County park despite its Bonita Springs address, while Bonita Springs itself is a Lee County city.
- Golden Gate and Golden Gate Estates are different places, and neither is North Naples.
- There’s no City of North Naples. Addresses here are unincorporated Collier County.
Wiggins Pass, Vanderbilt Beach, and the county parks
The coast anchors outdoor life here:
- Delnor-Wiggins Pass State Park, open since 1976 on the barrier island south of Wiggins Pass, has beach walking, birding, and paddling on Water Turkey Bay and the Cocohatchee estuary.
- Vanderbilt Beach sits at the Gulf end of Vanderbilt Beach Road.
- Cocohatchee River Park, on Vanderbilt Drive, is the county’s boat launch.
- In Pelican Bay, Clam Bay and Clam Pass protect a mangrove estuary.
- Barefoot Beach Preserve keeps a stretch of undeveloped Gulf shoreline at the county’s northern edge.
Inland, Veterans Community Park has courts, fields, and the Rover Run dog park, where Collier County Parks & Recreation holds a Doggie Easter Egg Hunt each spring. Just east, North Collier Regional Park adds sports fields, walking trails, and a boardwalk. A North Naples backyard often borrows the same mix: shade, a view of water or green space, and room to stay outside after dark.
Starting a North Naples project
A first site visit reviews:
- the house, any current lanai or screen enclosure, and how the space gets used
- sun, wind, and drainage across the lot
- flood-zone mapping and coastal hazard status for the parcel
- which community, district, or association applies
- whether the parcel is unincorporated Collier County or City of Naples
Photos of the lanai and yard, sent with the request, help the team prepare. After the visit, the team drafts a concept and scopes the work.
